Dj Emil - World lounge Vol. 1 & 2

Over the last few years I have, in addition to four to the floor club sessions, played a lot of lounge, bar and radio sets. I was going to put together a selection of my favorite groovy lounge tunes, but quickly realized there were way too many songs I wanted to fit into the mix. So, I decided to start a personal mixtape series with midtempo tracks under the umbrella term "World lounge". To kick the series off, I am releasing two mixes. The volumes have a slightly different mood, but compliment each other in a nice way. Part one is sunny, positive and upbeat, and part two is more melancholic and dark. Both mixes contain songs I have enjoyed a lot to and I think the individual tracks resonate well from each other and create a coherent entity, despite the fact that they are from different parts of the world. Genres and styles on the two first volumes include, but is not restricted to: Arabic Pop, Afrobeat, Bhangra, Cumbia, Highlife, Hiplife, Kizomba, Kwaito, Latin soul, Manele, Musica Popular Brasileira, Reggaeton, Samba, Zouk.

I hope you enjoy this music as much as I do!

Baltic Balkan: Baltic Balkan Swing

I once again caught myself listening to this excellent Baltic Balkan Swing mix, which made me realise I have to share it with you. It's almost a year old but anybody who is yet to peep it, should get a load of this nice swing selection. Perfect for Sunday chilling, but also a nice mix to kick off a party with. Tracks are not mixed flawlessly together and the bpm jumps up and down, but the selection is pure gold. Coherent and swinging all the way through. Let us call this the Boom Shakalaka mix of the week. Have a nice Sunday!

Dj Emil live set: 200 minutes of cumbia and latin madness!

EDIT: Tracklist updated, a few mistakes corrected

Encouraged by some guests at one of my shows, I recorded one of my latin sets a few weeks back. From a total of four hours of material, not to make the file too big and long, I cut out a nice 200 minutes slice from the middle of the set. I had a good time playing and you may hear the Peruvian moonshine kick in at some point when the mixing is no longer so smooth :-). There are however some tight tracks in the mix and it's a nice cut overall, so I decied to share it with you. Grab the 200 minutes of cumbia and latin madness! with Dj Emil via Mediafire here. Mix of the Week: Major Lazer & La Roux present Lazer Proof

OK, when Major Lazer and La Roux release their latest mixtape Lazer Proof and an hour later there's a tweet on their twitter that says: "La Roux / Major Lazer mixtape crashed server 200k tried at once!!!" you know there's a serious H Y P E on. Though you normally shouldn't believe the hype, I found myself diggin this one. There's no bangers, but more mellow stuff. So it's actually what good pop music nowadays should sound. I don't weather I'll be listening to after a month anymore, but now it flows quite nicely as backround soundtrack of working. If the Mad Decent server isn't still working can get it also from zshare.
