Boom Shakalaka, consisting of djs Emil, Good Blood, Hermanni, Rideon and MC Mad Ice is a team of musicians / djs / producers with a passion for different club cultures and dance musics from around the world.
The group was put together because there is a great deal of dance and club music produced outside the Western mainstrea, that never gets heard in Helsinki. We wanted to put up a stage where bouncing club sounds from the Caribbean, Latin America, the whole African continent, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and South Asia all blend in, creating a global multicultural urban soundscape.
We also host a biweekly radio show on Finnish semi-national radio station Basso and launched and created the genre "baltik bass", where folklore from the Baltic sea region meet the urban dance floor.
